Nine of the 11 players came from last season’s two top clubs, with Chelsea and Manchester United also represented.
While the Citizens led the Reds to the title on the final day, Jurgen Klopp’s side are the most represented here, with more than half of the team hailing from Anfield.
Goalkeeper Alisson Becker, defenders Trent Alexander-Arnold and Virgil van Dijk, midfielder Thiago Alcantara and strikers Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane all made it, with Salah also winning the Player of the Year award.
Full-back Joao Cancelo and midfielders Bernardo Silva and Kevin De Bruyne made up the trio of City players, but there was no place for attacking midfielder Phil Foden, who won the Young Player of the Year award for the second straight year.

Chelsea centre-back Antonio Rudiger and United striker Cristiano Ronaldo completed the XI, which was unveiled during Thursday night’s awards ceremony.
Given that City and Liverpool were 18 points clear of everyone else, it’s not that surprising that the two almost completely control the team, although Thiago’s inclusion might have raised some eyebrows.
While the Spaniard has had a good season, there have been other players in his position who may have been feeling hurt, including West Ham’s Declan Rice, Southampton’s James Ward-Prowse and Conor Gallagher, who ended the season on loan from Chelsea to Crystal Palace spent.
Ronaldo’s pick at the top will also have been controversial because, although the 37-year-old has scored 18 goals, his efforts couldn’t save United from ending the season with the lowest points in Premier League history.
Many feel that his place in the XI and indeed his Player of the Year nomination should have gone to Tottenham’s son Heung-min, who scored 23 goals to share the Golden Boot with Salah and take Spurs to fourth place catapult.
