Lincolnshire: Human skull found floating in Fulstow duck pond

An investigation is underway after a skull was found floating in a duck pond.
The grizzly discovery was made by a member of the public in a Lincolnshire village this afternoon.
Detectives say forensic examinations are being carried out, but they believe the remains are actually human remains.
A search of the area for other bones is ongoing and is expected to last throughout the weekend.
It could be several weeks before full lab tests on the skull yield results, they warned.
Police will likely try to match the remains with people on the missing person’s register using DNA profiling.
A woman who lives on a nearby farm told GrimsbyLive: “Police were here at first light.
“It was about 4 in the morning. Someone found a human skull. It’s a shock.
“Everyone is wondering who it could be and how long they’ve been there.
“It’s sad because it’s someone’s brother or sister or maybe a parent.
“The guy who found it said it has teeth, but no one knows how long it’s been there.”
Police confirmed they were called to a small body of water near Pear Tree Lane in Fulstow at 12.37pm yesterday.
A Lincolnshire Police spokesman said: “We believe this may be a human skull but this is being determined by an in-depth forensic examination of the skull which may take up to several weeks.
“The area has been cordoned off and we expect to remain in the area over the weekend and into Monday conducting a full search.
‘We will release an update as soon as one becomes available.’
