Lilibet is celebrating her first birthday in the UK after meeting the Queen

Harry and Meghan’s daughter Lilibet will celebrate her first birthday in the UK today as the platinum anniversary celebrations continue.
The Queen’s namesake was born at 11.40am on Friday 4 June 2021 at Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital in California, where the Sussexes now reside.
Lilibet was first used when Princess Elizabeth was an infant and unable to pronounce her own name correctly.
Her grandfather, King George V, affectionately called her “Lilibet”, mimicking her own attempts to say Elizabeth.
The cute nickname stuck and she became Lilibet for her family from then on.
One-year-old Lilibet, known as Lili, bears the middle name Diana, chosen in memory of her late grandmother.
Harry’s mother, Princess Diana, died in a car accident in Paris in 1997.
Neither Lilibet nor her older brother Archie, 3, have been seen in public at any of the anniversary celebrations.
However, they met the Queen on Thursday during a private lunch at Windsor Castle after Trooping the Color.
Royal commentator Omid Scobie said this was probably the “first moment or chance for her (the Queen) to meet her namesake”.
It was also the first time the Queen saw Archie in person since the couple left the royal family and were uprooted to the United States.
With the monarch not traveling to Epsom Racecourse for the derby on Saturday, this could be the perfect opportunity for the company to gather again to celebrate the christening of Lilibet on the child’s first birthday at Windsor Castle.
However, Mr Scobie, the author of Finding Freedom, said Harry and Meghan “want to be as inconspicuous as possible during this trip” – so no family reunion photos are expected.
“These moments with Lilibet are very private between you and the Queen,” he told BBC Breakfast.
Fans are dying to catch a glimpse of Archie and Lilibet.
Meghan’s hairdressers have explained how they are in an Instagram post.
George Northwood called Archie the “cutest well behaved boy” and Lilibet “beautiful”.
Harry and Meghan have been careful to keep their children out of the limelight since moving to America, with Archie only being pictured a handful of times.
Meanwhile, the only photo we’ve seen of Lilibet was of the couple released for Christmas.
Kate and William’s three children have been more regularly featured at official royal appearances and in regular family portraits. A new photo of them is usually also published on their birthdays.
However, one of Lilibet is not expected today.
Harry and Meghan are said to be avoiding media attention this weekend so as not to overshadow the Queen as the public celebrates their 70th reign.
The Sussexes were not on the balcony of Buckingham Palace at the start of the anniversary celebrations, but could only be seen in some photos taken through a window at Horse Guards Parade during Trooping the Color, showing them interacting with some of the royal children.
On Friday, they attended a thanksgiving service at St Paul’s Cathedral but did not attend a subsequent reception at the Guildhall, attended by most of the other royals.
