On Monday, the board of Akron Public Schools will vote on the resignation by Brandi Davis, Akron signaling magazine report. Davis’ resignation comes after she was granted leave in September following allegations that she slapped a child for swearing.
The mother of an 11-year-old boy said Davis called her to say she beat her son and that her son came home with a bruised lip despite wearing a mask when the incident happened.
Why did you put your hand on my baby? “The mother recalled asking the principal. “She said she just reacted and slapped him.”
Mother remember received a text message asking her to pick up 6th graders from school at the end of September. Soon after, parents said Davis called her privately to inform her that she had slapped a boy in the lunch line after he uses profanity when describing how messy his bathroom is.
Details of the pending investigation are unknown while Davis remained on administrative leave prior to her acceptance of her resignation.
There have been two interim principals at the school since Davis’ retired. Anthony Lane currently holds the position of school principal and will continue to hold this position.
Davis has been the new principal of James’ School since it opened four years ago. The school is a partnership between the Akron Public Schools and the LeBron James Family Foundation. But Davis was hired by the school district.
“We treat you all like a family,” the boy’s mother said of the school.
