A murder investigation has been launched following the death of a woman in Lambeth. Police were called at around 4.04pm on Monday 1 May to reports of a stabbing at Stockwell Park Walk, SW9. A woman was stabbed to death in broad daylight on a street in Lambeth, south London.

Emergency services were called to the scene just after 4pm today at Stockwell Park Walk, near the O2 Brixton Academy.

Paramedics tried to rescue the woman, who is believed to be in her 30s, but died at the scene.

She was not named, but police said her family had been informed and was being assisted by officers.

The Met said an urgent investigation into the incident had been launched.

A statement said: “Police were called at around 4.04pm on Monday 1 May to reports of a stabbing in Stockwell Park Walk, SW9.

“Officers, paramedics from the London Ambulance Service and the London Air Ambulance were present.

“A woman believed to be in her 30s was pronounced dead at the scene. The woman’s family has been informed; they are supported by specialist officers.

“A number of roads have been closed while officers work at the scene.”

Anyone who witnessed the incident is asked to call 101 quoting the reference CAD 4728/01 May.
