ABINGTON, MASS. (WHDH) – A stabbing was reported in Abington and officers are searching for the suspect, sources told 7NEWS.

Officers are at the Commuter Rail platforms where they believe the suspect may be on the move.

7NEWS spoke to a man who said he was the victim’s brother. According to the brother. The victim was stabbed in the side and has since been released from hospital. According to police, he suffered serious but non-life-threatening injuries.

Police have spoken to neighbors on Plymouth Street. The scene is now clear and although most neighbors said they did not witness the stabbing, they had come home to experience the worrying blue lights and bustle.

“When I came back from an errand, I saw the police were here,” said Gail Campbell of Abington. “I saw, you know, the blue lights, and I said, ‘Oh my god, what?’ To hear there’s a stabbing is scary, it’s scary.”

The alleged brother said the suspect was someone the victim knew and the victim was fine.

The Kingston Line Commuter Rail train has been halted between South Weymouth and Abington, delaying its route by up to 25 minutes on Monday afternoon.

“I don’t like to see trouble. I don’t like seeing trouble,” Campbell said. “None of us likes to see trouble.”
