Looks festive! Princess Kate was a beautiful sight at the Royal Christmas Church service in Sandringham on Sunday 25th December.
The Princess of Wales, 40, wore her Sunday Best in an olive coat dress and matching wide-brimmed hat. Kate completed the look with a pair of brown leather gloves, a brown clutch bag and delicate gold earrings.
The Duchess of Cornwall was joined by her husband, Prince Williamand their children – Prince George, 9, Princess Charlotte, 7, and Prince Louis, 4 – for the occasion. King Charles III – who honored William, 40, and Kate’s royal duties in his first-ever Christmas speech – was also present Queen Consort Camilla and other members of the royal family.
The holiday marks the family’s first Christmas without Queen Elizabeth II following her death on September 8 aged 96.
Buckingham Palace confirmed the royals’ holiday plans in a press release on Monday December 19 via royal correspondent Omid Scobie. “Their Majesties The King and Queen, accompanied by members of the Royal Family, will attend the Christmas Day morning service at Sandringham Church on Sunday 25 December 2022,” read the announcement.
In years past, British royals would spend the holidays at Elizabeth’s Sandringham House in Norfolk, England, and would often visit a country church to pray on Christmas Day.
Celebrating Christmas without the Queen will feel “bittersweet,” a source said Us weekly earlier this month only. “[She] I don’t want them to mope or be put off from getting together and enjoying the occasion,” the insider added.
The Sunday outing comes after the family left for a bank holiday concert at Westminster Abbey in London, which Kate hosted on December 15. That evening, the Princess of Wales was a vision in a burgundy coat dress. The tailored number is finished with elegant gold buttons and square shoulders. She paired the piece with matching maroon heels and a matching croc-embossed clutch. Charlotte matched her mother in the same color and Kate’s sister, Pippa Middletonfollowed in a wine colored belted coat dress.
The event was the second annual carol concert sponsored by the Royal Foundation and was filmed for public broadcast on Christmas Eve. Kate organized the first musical soiree of 2021, dedicating the night to first responders supporting the country amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
It appears Kate, who received her title of Princess after Her Majesty’s death, will be taking on more royal duties after Charles appointed the British native as the new Honorary Colonel of the Irish Guards. Kate takes on the role of William, who was honored by the Queen in February 2011.
The 40-year-old Prince of Wales is now Colonel in the Welsh Guards as Camilla was promoted to Colonel in the Grenadier Guards, a title he previously held Prince Andrew. (The late Queen removed Andrew’s title in January shortly before his sexual assault lawsuit.)
