“Contrary to what I suspect from the outside, to me our family is much more focused on emulating who we are as people,” said Hudson, 43, in an interview with E! news that was published on Friday September 30th. “Imitate the good and maybe not necessarily want to carry on some of the challenges like every kid growing up in the world.”
That How to lose a man in 10 days The actress explained that while some might think she’s emulated the 76-year-old’s career, Hudson “didn’t see it that way,” adding that Hawn “is an original. She is an icon. It’s a different generation.”
While the California native might not copy what her mother achieved on screen, she does take the Golden Globe winner’s advice when it comes to family matters. “I really like emulating the things that brought them into their careers and into us as kids and how they balanced that out. I think that’s important,” Hudson shared.
That joy Alum is raising 18-year-old son Ryder with his ex-husband Chris Robinson – to whom she was married from 2000 to 2007 – as well as son Bingham, 11, with ex Matt Bellamy and daughter Rani Rose, 3, with fiancé Danny Fujikawa.

In June, Hudson’s eldest child graduated from high school, and the Oscar nominee paid tribute to her then-eldest child in a sweet Instagram post.
“@mr.ryderrobinson you are the most incredible young man. Raising you has been one of the great gifts and joys of my life,” she wrote alongside two photos of Ryder after his graduation. “You bring so much to everyone’s life. You are kind, loving, generous, patient, hilarious and unique. I am so looking forward to this next chapter. Keep it up baby! Mom loves you!”
Two months later, the Almost famous The actress took on the role of the ultimate fangirl and shared several photos via Instagram of Ryder performing with his band at the Mint in Los Angeles.
“Watch my baby 🎸 @mr.ryderrobinson #stagemoms #bestnight 💫,” Hudson captioned the carousel of pictures, one of which showed the 18-year-old shredding his guitar on stage. In another shot, the mother of three flashed a big smile while her stepdad Kurt RussellShe grinned at the actress in the photo.
“Your children are the great barometer of whether your life as a working parent is well planned because they let you know when they’re not getting the attention they need in the way they behave,” the fools gold star tells WSJ. magazine in December 2021. “When I was with Ryder early on, I found that out very quickly. … I knew when it was time for me to put down my pen and take some time to make my kids my absolute priority. Now that they are all in school it’s great because I can do all my work in the day. And then I’m mom.”
