The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge joined Tom Cruise on the red carpet at the UK premiere of Top Gun: Maverick.
Kate and William arrived in Leicester Square, London to a cheering crowd and camera flashes.
William wore an Alexander McQueen tuxedo and Crocket & Jones loafers with the words ‘F-18’ on them, while Kate wore a black and white Roland Mouret dress.
Cruise greeted the couple with his Hollywood smile to the royal screening before taking Kate’s hand and joking with her.
The 59-year-old star then introduced the Duke and Duchess to the other cast members in the new film.
Cruise said of his admiration for William, “We have a lot in common. We both love England and we are both aviators, we both love flying.”
Top Gun: Maverick, which has received rave reviews so far, sees Cruise as US Navy aviator Pete “Maverick” Mitchell and comes 36 years after the 1986 original.
Other stars include Miles Teller, Jennifer Connelly, Monica Barbaro, Val Kilmer, Jon Hamm and Glen Powell.
The film was originally slated for a July 2019 release but has been repeatedly delayed due to the coronavirus pandemic.
The actor said he’s happy to be back on the red carpet, saying: “I love what I do, I’ve always enjoyed it and I’m enjoying it even more now.
“Especially after the last couple of years it’s quite extraordinary to have an event like this.”
Cruise made a dramatic entrance at the blockbuster’s US premiere by landing a helicopter on an aircraft carrier in San Diego, California.
On Sunday, during an event to celebrate the Queen’s platinum jubilee, he expressed a desire to land a helicopter in Trafalgar Square.
But on Thursday night there was no such drama and fans had to settle for a model Eurofighter Typhoon and a mini runway.
Originally called the Royal Command Film Performance, the first Royal Film Performance was held at the Empire Cinema in Leicester Square in 1946 and was attended by King George VI and Queen Elizabeth, as well as Princesses Elizabeth and Margaret.
The film shown was A Matter Of Life And Death starring David Niven.
The most recent performance included a screening of the 1917 World War I epic directed by Sir Sam Mendes and was held at the Odeon Luxe in Leicester Square in 2019 in the presence of the Prince of Wales and the Duchess of Cornwall.
The fundraiser is being held in aid of The Film and TV Charity, which supports people working behind the scenes in the UK screen industry.
Paramount Pictures is releasing Top Gun: Maverick on May 27th in the UK and Ireland.
