‘Karen’ tries to save on parking during Astros FanFest

A Houston Astros fan went viral on TikTok for recording a “Karen” standing in a parking lot to discourage her from parking there.

The Astros fan named Courtney (@courtneymh9765) posted a nearly four-minute video of her and her partner interacting with the Karen. Based on when the video was posted, the incident appears to have happened during Astros FanFest on January 21st. As of January 25, the video had 3.7 million views.

“Karen thought she was going to win, but not today, lady. It’s happened to us too many times,” Courtney wrote in the video’s on-screen caption.

In the video, the Karen was parked in an empty parking lot when Courtney’s vehicle coasted in front of the spot. The woman was on the phone and appeared to be waiting for someone, presumably to hold the parking lot for her. Apparently upset, she waved her hands in the air and yelled incomprehensibly at someone off-camera.

Eventually she approached Courtney’s vehicle and Courtney’s husband in the passenger seat rolled down the window.

“Why are you trying to ruin this day for the people?” said the Karen. She explained that she jumped out of her car to save the parking spot as she drove past it. Then she asked, “Are you high? You’re obviously high.”

She waved her arms dramatically while insisting Courtney’s husband ruined the day by “holding everyone up.”

“You’re not real Astros fans when you act like that and that’s the truth,” she said.

Meanwhile, other drivers honked their horns as distance presumably halted movement in the parking lot.

“Let’s go! Get that fucking crazy lady out of here, somebody,” Courtney’s husband said.

The Karen refused to move and Courtney’s husband rolled up his window again. Someone off-camera tried to convince the woman to move, but she continued to stand around and point at Courtney’s car as if to show who the real culprit was.

“Dude, it doesn’t work that way, dude,” Courtney’s husband said. “Come on. You have to drive around and find a seat. If that were the case, everyone would be doing it and it would be a shit show. Come on, how old are you?”

The two continued their standoff, and the man pulled over Karen for a seat before she missed the show. Karen eventually walked away, but not before marching to Courtney’s car to snap her husband in the face.

“You guys are pathetic Astro fans and you should both be ashamed of yourselves because there are children. It’s karma,” she said.

The video received thousands of comments from incredulous viewers, some of whom said Karen bore a striking resemblance to US Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene and Mickey Mouse.

“OMG is that Marjorie Tyler Green,” one viewer commented.

“I’m too distracted by the Mickey Mouse gloves,” wrote another, referring to the long white gloves the woman was wearing, which she had repeatedly toyed with during the incident.

Other users said they couldn’t believe the woman’s audacity in thinking she was entitled to a parking space if she stood on it.

“I love how she acts stunned by YOU,” commented one user.

“I honestly can’t even imagine standing in a parking lot trying to save it for someone,” wrote a second.

Some said Courtney should have just pulled into the parking space and forced the Karen to move.

“Just move in slowly, they’re always moving,” suggested one viewer.

“If they don’t move my dad will keep parking anyway,” shared another.
