TikToker Trey Knotts uploaded a viral interaction between himself and a customer who he says treated him disrespectfully. As a result, Knotts refused the woman service at the Enterprise Rent-A-Car location where he works. He kept the camera on him during their conversation, but the woman’s voice could be heard off-screen, and people who watched Knotts’ video thought the woman was victimizing herself when she accused the man of killing her discriminated against because she was white.
Although Knotts contradicted the woman on that fact, she ignored his points and continued to talk about how “offended” she was, causing the TikToker to become visibly frustrated. However, he managed to keep his calm throughout most of the interaction.
Knotts begins the video with a text overlay that reads, “Karen came to my job today and this is how it went…please watch to the end.”
In the video’s caption, he wrote, “Look at what I deal with at work.”

The TikToker begins by telling the woman, “All right Miss Smith, I would like to let you know that unfortunately you are unable to withdraw from this location, solely based on our previous interactions. I called my manager and it is at my discretion whether or not to put you in a vehicle and I choose not to.”
At this point in the clip, there is several seconds of silence as he looks off-screen at the customer and awaits her response. He continues, “You can go to another place if you want me to know there’s one in Rockingham, Southern Pines has one too, but I don’t rent to you here.”
She then insults the man, saying, “So not only are you an asshole, you’re an asshole too.” Knotts smiles in what appears to be an attempt to contain his feelings.
“Ma’am, I drove you to the bank…brought you back here…you said I had a smartass mouth and if I were your boyfriend, would you slap my ass?” So I’m not putting you in a car. Not here,” he replies. “Like I said you can go to another place totally fine but if you want to pick up [our location] No, ma’am, not today.”
The woman then replies, “You’re a real, real piece of pure joy, really helpful.”
The TikToker responds by saying, “No problem. You’re welcome.”
The customer does not leave yet and continues to talk to the employee.
“I feel offended,” she continues. “I know why you’re doing this. Because I’m white.”
At this point, Knotts puts on a puzzled expression and says, “I literally just put a white lady in a vehicle. So what’s the problem?”
The customer acknowledges that this is the case. “So what’s the problem?” Knotts continues.
“Because I’m white and you insulted me,” the woman replies. “I feel insulted.”
“How why?” he asks in disbelief.
“Because I feel like you’re discriminating against me because…” she trailed off.
“Ma’am, you literally said, if you were my boyfriend, I’d smack your ass,” Knotts replies.
She ignores his remarks. “I feel offended,” she says, then asks the man’s name and says she’ll go on TV to come out with his behavior.
“My white life matters,” she says.
He then turns her over as she exits the store, presumably while she is turning.
TikTokers applauded Knott’s ability to keep her composure in the situation, while others castigated the woman for disrespect.
“Trey, you did a great job with your professionalism, but jaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa
“Your accent said it all to me,” said another.
“You guys had a staring contest,” wrote one viewer.
Others empathized with Knotts as a worker who deals with all kinds of customers every day.
“The cold. as someone who works in customer service. the cold said it all,” shared one user.
“lmao I can’t hate customer service for this reason,” said another.
