A judge spotted half-naked, smoking and allegedly slurring words in bed during a Zoom hearing has been suspended.
Colombian Vivian Polania, 34, quickly turned off her laptop’s camera after being warned that she could be seen in her underwear.
But the 33-second video captured during a trial to decide whether a car bomb terrorism suspect should be released on bail went viral.
A lawyer sued and yesterday she was banned until February.
Judge Polania caused a storm two years ago when she posted photos showing her muscles honed during training sessions. Other pictures in a tiny G-string showed tattoos on her back and bottom.
At the time, she said she prided herself on being “braless and open-minded,” adding, “Not all judges, attorneys and public servants are created equal. What I wear or show on social media is my choice and I will not change anything.”
Colombia’s National Commission on Judicial Ethics criticized her “contempt for filling her position”.
It added: “We find no justification for the judge presenting herself in such deplorable conditions. She had the facilities of her own home to prepare for a public hearing properly and with the respect she deserved.’
Last January, lawyer Hector Paredes Robles was caught having sex with a naked woman – believed to be his client – while leaving his camera zoomed on during a court hearing in Peru.
