JP Saxe shares ‘I Don’t Miss You’: New Song

JP Saxe released his new single “I Don’t Miss You” today. With some stacked production credits from Malay and co-songwriting/guitar from John Mayer, Saxe shows he’s worth working with – taking listeners through his struggle to get out of a relationship.

“I can’t say I expected / How many moments we’re still so connected / They sneak up on my imagination / And the worst possible situations,” he later sings into the track. “And my conscience is swamped / But I don’t think about it much / It’s unconscious and sudden / So I don’t let it mean anything.”

Saxe attempts to suppress his emotions but routinely proves unsuccessful — and he similarly described the song in a press statement Rolling Stone.

“On ‘I Don’t Miss You,’ I try to lie to myself about my feelings—how I distract myself from them, how I compartmentalize them, and how I eventually lose to them,” Saxe said of the song. “My guiding principle in songwriting is ‘I’m telling the truth,’ so a song that lies to itself might seem a bit counterintuitive, but the truth is that trying to hide my feelings from people is common and futile adventure is on my mind and I look forward to this song taking people on that adventure with me.”
