Roma boss Jose Mourinho is considering a move for disgraced Arsenal defender Hector Bellerin after he was priced out of a move for Manchester United right-back Aaron Wan-Bissaka.

The former Tottenham boss will receive significant funds to invest in his squad this summer after guiding the Serie A giants to Europa Conference League success.

Mourinho regularly lamented the size of his squad last season and Roma have already lost Henrikh Mkhitaryan to join Inter Milan and Ainsley Maitland-Niles has returned to Arsenal after his six-month loan.

The Italians were keen on Wan-Bissaka but United are keen to recoup as much as possible of the £50m they spent on the defender in 2019 and Roma could only afford a full-season loan deal.

Bellerin has therefore become a more realistic target with Gazetta Dello Sport claiming Roma are eyeing a deal.

Arsenal are targeting around £18m to sell Bellerin but the Spaniard has just a year left on his contract at the Emirates and Roma believe they can sign him for less than the Gunners’ valuation.

Bellerin spent last season on loan at Real Betis and enjoyed his time at Seville where he made 32 appearances in all competitions.

Arsenal would consider returning Bellerin on loan but would demand a significant fee to let the Spaniard go.
