JOS: 2 women injured in Hingham Apple store crash speak out about ‘insane’ experience – Boston News, Weather, Sports

HINGHAM, MASS. (WHDH) – Soni Baker and her friend Heather Eaton were sitting in the middle of the Apple Store Monday when an SUV crashed through the window, hitting the two 21-year-olds.

Baker was injured in the accident and she spoke about the moments when she struggled to process exactly what had happened.

“I didn’t know if there was a bomb. I don’t know if someone shot the store. But I remember turning around and it was like Pssssh!” Baker said. “I remember the glass shattering, and like everything — It was crazy, like it looked like I was watching — I thought the whole place blew up, like an outbreak.”

Baker said her back was to the window and she passed out. Eaton is still in the hospital, but her aunt and grandmother said Heather told them what she saw.

“Heather saw the car coming their way and said it looked like he was driving erratically and trying to run people over,” said Susan Eaton, Heather’s aunt. “That was her opinion.”

“She was thrown against the wall, debris everywhere and the next thing she knew everything was grey,” Susan said. “So she’s not sure if she passed out. But she couldn’t move, so she woke up screaming for help, for help.”

Following Tuesday’s arrest, Heather’s family and Baker said they are focused on their recovery from spinal injuries and broken bones and consider themselves lucky to be alive.

“Because I’m here,” Baker said, “and a lot worse could have happened.”

Baker said that the Find My iPhone feature shows that her phone is still in the store where the crash happened. Eaton’s family said when she woke up in the store, a nurse helped her. The nurse appeared to be another customer the family is grateful for.
