John Terry hits back at Rio Ferdinand after naming Virgil van Dijk and Jaap Steam ahead of Chelsea legend | Soccer

Speaking to van Dijk on his YouTube show Between the Lines, Ferdinand and the Dutchman discussed how the Liverpool star compares to the best centre-backs in league history.
Van Dijk has lined up there with the greats after transforming Liverpool’s fortunes since his £75million arrival from Southampton in 2018.
However, he has only won one Premier League which pales in comparison to the likes of Ferdinand and Terry.
Nonetheless, when picking his five, Ferdinand picked himself first, Nemanja Vidic second and Van Dijk third ahead of Jaap Stam and Terry fifth.
“I think I was number one. Seriously,’ said Ferdinand.
“I’ll be number one straight away,” said Ferdinand before putting Vidic in second place.
After pushing Van Dijk into third place, the Dutchman contradicted by saying: “I’ve only won one Premier League!” but Ferdinand replied, “Yes, I know, but I think the impact you have on the team is tremendous and your qualities will put you right in the top flight.”
Speaking of Terry, Ferdinand said: “In terms of his longevity at this club, what they’ve won, body on the line, a much better footballer than people give him credit for, could play his left foot and right foot.”
But that wasn’t enough for Terry, who wasn’t happy with his placement in Ferdinand’s rankings.
Terry responded on Instagram, suggesting he should be high on the list.
The former Chelsea skipper posted a number of graphics on his Instagram story to defend his position, such as:
Accompanying his response, Terry commented, “Opinions are great, but stats don’t lie…”
