Joe Biden trips down the stairs of Air Force One for the second time in two weeks

President Joe Biden tripped over the steps of his Air Force One plane for the second time in less than two weeks.

Biden almost fell while boarding the presidential plane to leave Alabama on Sunday.

Video broadcast by WSFA 12 News shows Biden disembarking from Marine One and walking the tarmac to Air Force One. He begins to climb the stairs and around the ninth step he falls forward and catches himself. Biden continues up the stairs, waving and greeting before boarding the plane.

One of two journalists who commented on the footage said Biden’s visit to Alabama was “a short trip” but “very impactful.”

Biden’s stumble came 11 days after he stumbled on the steps of Air Force One while leaving Warsaw, Poland, after a tumultuous trip to Eastern Europe that included a stop in Kiev around the first anniversary of Russia’s all-out invasion of Ukraine. Biden also caught himself before he fell completely and made his way up and onto the plane.

It’s the third time Biden has wobbled on the stairs of Air Force One. The first time happened two months into his presidency in March 2021 at Joint Base Andrews.

Biden also fell off his bike in June 2022 in Rehoboth Beach, Delaware, where he has a home.

Biden spent around four hours in Alabama on Sunday. He briefly stopped in Montgomery and then went straight to Selma, which was devastated by a tornado on January 12. Biden donned aviator goggles as he walked from Marine One to Air Force One and walked up the stairs, holding a rolled-up newspaper in his left hand.

Biden’s age, 80, is under scrutiny as he appears to be preparing to announce his candidacy for re-election in 2024. Biden was the oldest US President to be sworn in at the age of 78. First Lady Jill Biden said late last month that he was “almost” left with deciding the time and place to announce his campaign.
