President Joe Biden told the late George Floyd’s daughter that he “changed the world” on the two-year anniversary of his death.

Biden invited Gianna Floyd to sit in his chair shortly after he signed a police reform executive order Wednesday afternoon and showed her the document.

“My father, he changed the world,” Biden said when Gianna nodded.

The President repeated Gianna’s famous words shortly after her father’s death on May 25, 2020. Sitting on the shoulders of her father’s longtime friend, ex-NBA star Stephen Jackson, Gianna said, “My father changed the world.”

Biden signed an executive order to strengthen police accountability. It directs federal agencies to revise their policies on the use of force, including banning strangleholds and limiting arrest warrants.

The ordinance also calls for the establishment of a national database to track police misconduct and the creation of a new national standard for accreditation of police departments. In addition, police departments must use new tools to identify inherent biases in officers and recruits, including those who hold white racial views.

It was drafted after the legislature failed to take legislative action for such reforms.

“One of the things I promised the Floyd family was that George’s name won’t just be a hashtag. Your father’s name will be known for a long time,” Biden said.

“And as a nation we will ensure that today we remember his legacy and the legacy of so many others. It’s not about her death, it’s about what we do to remember her.”

After a photo opportunity with Gianna sitting in the chair surrounded by administration officials, Biden said he will go to the White House audience to meet the families of Floyd and Breonna Taylor, a 26-year-old black woman who was shot by Police officers.
