Maximillius’ assistant coach Michael Kent Jnr said Brown was a “wonderful person” and that he and others in the racing community felt ill after the incident.
Brown had ridden Group 1-winning horses in the Turnbull Stakes at Flemington in October and the Memsie Stakes at Caulfield in August.
