Job Hunter says he’s applied to 557 jobs

A job hunter says he has unsuccessfully applied for over 550 jobs since July 2022, sparking a discussion about the job market in the comments section of the viral TikTok.

TikTok user Peter (@petersbrainfolds) posted the video on April 4th. As of April 5, the video has been viewed over 145,000 times. In the clip, Peter shows a document on his laptop screen listing all the positions he has applied for in the last year.

“I apply for jobs within and outside of my area of ​​expertise. I apply for large companies and small companies. I even had my resume looked at by a recruiter,” he says in the clip. “I would say more than three quarters have not even responded.”

He goes on to say that other companies ghosted him after a lengthy interview process. “You can’t win,” he notes.

In the comments, many users shared Peter’s job search problems.
