JK Rowling has vowed to buy Macy Gray’s entire back catalog after the singer sparked backlash for her “transphobic comments”.

The singer, best known for her 1999 single I Try, appeared on Piers Morgan’s Uncensored last night, where he again screened his guest for trans women.

The former Good Morning Britain presenter, 57, told Gray, 54, and his handful of viewers that we’re “basically in an era where most public figures are too scared to even say what they think of as a woman”.

‘I know!’ Gray agreed before being asked to describe what a woman is.

“I would say a person with breasts. That’s where you have to start. And a vagina!’

The Harry Potter author, who has caused massive uproar with her determined and consistent Twitter posts that are of great concern to the trans community, has evidently, to say the least, sided with Gray wholeheartedly.

Sharing trans activist and presenter India Willoughby’s post, which accused Gray of “destroying her career,” Rowling tweeted, “Today feels like a good day to make sure I bought.” @MacyGraysLife‘s entire back catalogue.’

During the interview, Morgan leveled allegations of “transphobia” at Rowling for sharing similar comments.

“But it’s the truth,” Gray said. “And I don’t think you should be called transphobic just because you don’t agree with that, you know…there’s a lot of judgment and stone throwing at people just for saying what it is. ‘

While some were supportive of the ’90s singer, many were furious with her comments.

“I didn’t have Macy Gray as a terf on my bingo card, damn it??? Vis women are so embarrassing why the hell do you even care. Am I a woman just because of my parts? Is that all we’re limited to?’ a critic raged.

“This really sucks,” wrote another disappointed fan: “Everything that’s going on in the world right now and Macy Gray decides to use her platform to instead call on people who are already oppressed and try to invalidate them.”

Yesterday, Better Midler also took aim at the trans community, claiming women are being “wiped out,” which means quite a bit.

She wrote: “WOMEN OF THE WORLD! We are being deprived of our rights to our bodies, our lives and even our names! They no longer call us “women”; They call us “birth people” or “menstruators” and even “people with vaginas”! Don’t let them wipe you out! Every person on earth owes you!’

While we’ve never heard the term “birth people,” Rowling obviously shared the post out of solidarity.

Piers Morgan: Uncensored airs weekdays at 8 p.m. on TalkTV.
