Jefferson County man shot dead while confronting car clouters

FENTON, Mo. — Deputies in Jefferson County are searching for suspected carjackers who shot and killed a man who tried to confront them.

The shooting happened around 8 p.m. on Block 20 of Wallach Drive near Fenton, according to Grant Bissell, a spokesman for the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office.

Investigators believe the victim was shot after confronting several suspects. The victim suffered an abrasion and was treated by paramedics at the scene.

The suspects drive a dark sedan. Authorities have no further descriptions of the vehicle or the suspects.

This type of crime is an ongoing problem in the county, the sheriff’s office says.
