Jamie Carragher is urging Eddie Nketiah to leave Arsenal this summer

Jamie Carragher has told Eddie Nketiah to go Arsenal this summer to become a top striker.
Nketiah scored twice on Sunday as the Gunners beat Leeds United 2-1 in the Emirates to move four points clear of north London rivals Tottenham in the race for a top-four finish.
The 22-year-old has led Arsenal’s last four Premier League victories in the starting XI and with his contract expiring in the summer, Mikel Arteta is reportedly keen on keeping the striker at the club.
However, Carragher, the former Liverpool defender, believes Nketiah would be better served if he left the Emirates at the end of the season to get the opportunities he needs to develop.
Speaking on Sky Sports, he said: “Yes (Arsenal should try to keep him) but I don’t think he will ever become a first-choice forward so I think it would be better for him to continue.”
Since coming through the club’s academy, Nketiah has struggled to secure a place in the Arsenal first-team and often plays a small role in the cup competitions.
However, he has made his name in recent weeks, scoring twice in a 4-2 win at Chelsea and playing a significant role in last month’s 3-1 win over Manchester United at the Emirates.
In the Gunner’s win over Leeds, his fierce pressing earned him the first goal of the game when Illan Meslier’s attempted clearance rebounded off the striker and into the net. Meanwhile, he scored a second with a clean finish in the penalty area.
Nketiah has now scored four goals in his last four Premier League games which will have caught the eye of potential suitors.
After the game, the forward expressed his delight at having the opportunity to impress under Arteta.
He said: “Every player just wants to play and take the chances. I’ve worked hard all season to make sure I’m ready when I get my chance and give credit to my teammates for helping me play well and do well. I’m just happy in the team and helping.
“There was a great atmosphere throughout the season, it was excellent. You really feel the connection between the players and the fans, it’s amazing to be involved.
