James Wade will return to the Premier League Darts stage on Thursday night after a hospital stay in Germany during the Interwetten European Darts Open in Leverkusen.

Wade came down with nausea, high blood pressure and dizziness after winning his quarter-final game in Leverkusen on Sunday May 8th.

A statement released last Wednesday (May 11) informed us that Wade is still recovering in hospital and is “being held by the hospital team for observation and further treatment.”

The following day, Sky Sports confirmed he was flying back to the UK despite not being well enough to play in the Premier League in Sheffield last Thursday.

However, the machine has recovered in time to play the oche again when the Premier League rolls into the O2 in London on Thursday night (May 19).

Darts manufacturer Unicorn confirmed: “We are delighted to confirm that Team Unicorn star @JamesWade180 will be back in action tomorrow for the Premier League at the O2 Arena in London.

‘Nice to have you back James!’

Wade takes on Peter Wright on Thursday night, Gerwyn Price plays Jonny Clayton, Michael Smith meets Michael van Gerwen and Joe Cullen takes on Gary Anderson.

Speaking of the illness in Germany, Wade’s wife Samantha said: “It was very concerning on Sunday night and into Monday and it’s awful to think of James alone when he’s feeling so bad.

“Obviously we want him to get home as soon as possible but the medical staff have been great with James and he is very grateful for the compassion and care they have shown him. We’re taking her advice on when it’s safe for him to return home.

“James is keen to make sure he doesn’t let anyone down and is already talking about being competitive again for the people who bought tickets.

“While that is his nature, I’m sure everyone would agree that it’s important for him to make a full recovery and we’ll be doing it day by day, but I know it’ll be itching for him, as soon as possible to play.”
