In a viral video, a 24-year-old jack-in-the-box worker claims she makes more than $20 an hour in the fast-food industry.
In the video, TikToker Crystalino (crystalino.xo) works at Jack in the Box and lip-syncs to audio that says, “I bought this bitch a Benz because she used to drive a Honda.” The text superimposed on the video is: “When someone makes fun of you for working fast food, but they make less than $20 an hour.”
In the caption, Crystalino also wrote, “Call me anything but you can’t call me broke.” The clip is part of a 67-episode playlist about fast food, and as of this writing, the viral video has garnered over 139,000 views on the social media platform.

Some viewers agreed with the TikTok creator. “Very true, I have my accounting degree and I’m barely making $20,” said one user. But many didn’t believe that Crystalino makes over $20 an hour working at Jack in the Box. “You get paid 16 hours,” commented a skeptical user, to which Crystalino replied, “Speak for yourself.”
Another asked: “Aren’t you doing 15-16? 17 at most?” to which someone else responded by saying, “Deadass bro, even managers don’t make more than 19 an hour but she thinks she’s fooling people.” This time Crystalino did an entire answer video.
“First of all, I’ve never told you guys how much I’m paid, so it’s kind of funny that you guys are accusing me of lying. I try not to deceive anyone. I make over $20 an hour,” she says confidently about her job at Jack in the Box. Crystalino says that the only reason she made the previous video was because people made comments about her working at a fast food job at the age of 24 to make money than me.”
Other viewers who had experience working in fast food also chimed in. “I can do 7:50 p.m. as shift manager, stay safe,” said one. Another confirmed that they “do 15 because they’re an assistant manager.”
Many pointed out that the pay gap between workers could also be explained by location. “The wage for fast food in my state is $12, here they barely make $14. And I’m not dissing about it, just saying it’s different in every state,” one user pointed out. Some claimed it was possible to make over $20 an hour because Cystalino is based in California, where the minimum wage is $15 an hour, according to the state Department of Labor Relations. “My sister [gets] 15/hr in Ohio gets me 19.50 plus tip in California,” said one user. However, this person also clarified that living in California meant that while she made more than her siblings, she was still “more broke” than her sister.
