It’s downhill for 300 skiing Santas, a Grinch and a tree – Boston News, Weather, Sports

NEWRY, Maine (AP) – A group of Santa Claus lookalikes took to the ski slopes on Sunday to spread a little seasonal cheer.
More than 300 merry old elves – all dressed in red – raced down a mountain together at Maine’s Sunday River ski area, white beards and Santa hats flapping in the wind. A skiing Grinch and a skiing Christmas tree joined the party.
It wasn’t exactly a winter wonderland – there was little natural snow. The snow machines on the Sunday River produced enough of the fluffy stuff for the annual tradition. Christmas Sunday has grown in popularity over more than two decades, raising $7,500 for a local charity this year.
