Certain locations close at 7:30pm, while others close at 8pm or even 9pm.

What is June 16?

Juneteenth refers to June 19, the day slavery ended in the United States in 1865.

It is observed to celebrate the end of slavery while celebrating African American culture.

As this year marked the first June 16 holiday, Starbucks employees shared their traditions and experiences regarding the holiday.

“For me, June 16 is freedom day. We rejoice in the red sodas and the BBQ and the day off, but we are here to recognize that this is a result of bondage and slavery,” shared Kionte, the district manager of a Starbucks location in Frisco, Texas .

Starbucks Vice President of Beverage R&D Diane Terry also shared her thoughts on the federal holiday with Starbucks.

“When I think of Juneteenth, it will be a moment for me to think about it,” Terry said via the company’s website.
