Is Kevin Costner leaving Yellowstone?

Although yellowstone currently on hiatus, the Dutton family loves drama so much they just had to stir up some controversy to tie fans down until the summer premiere.

Earlier this month, it was reported that the original hit series was ending in favor of a new series, directed by Matthew McConaughey, set to take place in the US yellowstone universe, with more fan-favorite characters expected to follow. But what about the family patriarch, played by Kevin Costner? He might be over it!

According to Deadline, Costner’s shooting schedule was the primary source of frustration during filming of season five. The Golden Globe winner reportedly only wanted to work 50 of his planned 65 days for part one of season five. But when it came time to film part two, Costner reportedly “just wanted to spend a week filming,” perhaps to move on to his next project. horizonby Warner Bros., which he will direct and star in.

While they are yet to officially confirm anything, a spokesperson for the Paramount Network told Deadline earlier this month, “We have no news to report. Kevin Costner plays a big role yellowstone and we hope that this will be the case for a long time to come. Thanks to Taylor Sheridan’s brilliant mind, we’re constantly working on franchise expansions of this incredible world he built. Matthew McConaughey is a phenomenal talent who we would love to work with.”

Even if Costner doesn’t return, the numerous yellowstone Spinoffs have done well on their own, so maybe it’s time John Dutton hung up his old cowboy hat. Or at least let Matthew McConaughey borrow it for a while.
