Investigators: Extension cord caused the Malden fire that injured 2 firefighters and displaced 9 people – Boston News, Weather, Sports

Malden, Mass. (WHDH) – Investigators say an extension cord was the cause of a fire on John Street in Malden on Monday night, injuring two firefighters and leaving nine people homeless.
The State Fire Marshal says an indoor extension cord ran through a window along the outside of the home and ignited the building’s exterior.
The firefighters suffered minor injuries and are believed to be in good health.
“We are very relieved that the two injured firefighters are recovering and that none of the residents were injured or worse,” Malden Fire Chief William Sullivan said in a statement.
The American Red Cross helps the displaced.
