Invasion of Ukraine: Russian troops attack evacuation convoy near Kyiv

Seven civilians were killed after Russian forces attacked an evacuation convoy near Kyiv, Ukraine’s Defense Intelligence Service said.
One child was among the victims, and the convoy of people from the village of Peremoha was made up entirely of women and children, according to officials.
In a statement, the intelligence said: “After the attack, the occupiers forced the remains of the column to return to Peremoha and will not let them out of the village.”
Russia has consistently denied targeting civilians since Vladimir Putin launched its invasion on February 24.
But countless images of destroyed apartment blocks and many reports of dead citizens, including children, paint a very different picture.
Russia recently denied the bombing of a hospital in the city of Mariupol, dismissing the claims as “fake news”.
Putin’s forces have broken a series of ceasefire agreements and fired shells at besieged cities just hours after announcing they would cease fire to let residents out.
But Moscow has tried to blame Ukraine for the violations, accusing the country of using civilians as human shields.
On Monday, Russia’s UN envoy Vasily Nebenzya even accused Ukrainians of firing at themselves.
His comments sparked outrage in the international community and drew comparisons to similar claims made by Bosnian Serb forces when they bombed Sarajevo.
