Instagram makes big changes to your profile page, making it more like Twitter

INSTAGRAM’s latest update allows users to pin their best posts to the top of their profile for maximum engagement.
Twitter is widely credited with bringing pinned posts into the mainstream, but the feature is available elsewhere.

Pinning a post crops an image at the top of your profile, making it the first post users see when they visit your Instagram page.
It’s a useful tool for social media – pinned posts can give users insight into topics or content types that might be on a particular page.
For individuals, pinning posts is a smart way to continually collect new likes for an older post.
The Instagram version of the feature allows users to pin up to three photos or reels to the top row of their profile grid.

To pin an Instagram post, select your favorites and tap the three dots in the top right corner.
Click on “Pin to your profile”.
The post will pin itself to the top of your profile – the post remains the same with its cumulative likes and comments, but now it’s more prominent, anchored to the top row and has a pin icon on it.
To unpin, click the three dots and select “Unpin from your profile” – the post will be re-embedded in its original chronology.
Facebook, another meta app, allows users to pin posts to the top of their wall.
TikTok allows users like Instagram to pin up to three posts at a time.
Before the introduction of pinned posts, Instagram allowed users to lock reels over their grid to view them repeatedly – this feature is still available.

The pin tool is one of a whole host of new features introduced to Instagram.
90-second reels, interactive stickers in reels, and imported audio for reels have also been highlighted in a Twitter post by Instagram boss Adam Mosseri.
