Injured Mayfield candle factory worker files lawsuit


MAYFIELD, Ky. (FOX 56) – Many workers Injured in Mayfield Consumer Products factory collapse is filing a lawsuit against the company.

Staff reported that they were informed leaving the factory during a tornado will cost them their jobs.

Lawyers for the victims said the charges would include a serious breach of occupational safety law as well as a major cover-up discovered in the past 24 hours.

Governor Beshear did not take these allegations lightly, stating that the nature of the investigation will be consistent with the seriousness of the allegations made.

“If there are related reports from the candle factory or elsewhere, absolutely. The state, through the appropriate agency, will review it,” Beshear said in December 14 press conference.

Beshear added, “Everybody has to live up to certain standards both in terms of the law, in terms of safety and being decent human beings, and I hope everyone lives up to those standards.”


The company that owns the plant is denying the reports.

Eight people died in the facility collapse.

The attorneys said employees will share their survival stories Friday on a gospel live radio program.

The investigation is underway.
