Fishermen in north-east India have caught a “monster” weighing at least 264 pounds.

It took four people to transport the fish caught in the Brahmaputra River in the city of Goalpara, Assam state.

Footage shows the group struggling to carry the animal, which local media said had been dubbed “Gorua”.

It was caught in the nets of a local fisherman named Musa Sheikh on Wednesday morning.

Videos that have been shared widely on social media show a very excited crowd following the group.

The fish was so big that all four people had to pick it up. Viewers were struck by its size.

The fishermen seemed to be making their way to the nearby market to sell their catch.

The giant fish is reportedly worth 1,10,000 rupees (US$1,540).

In March, Metro.co.uk reported on a British angler who was also speechless as he hooked the biggest catch of his life.
