Thirteen people have died in India after a bus carrying a music band crashed into a ravine.

Another 29 were injured in the incident.

The bus had transported a large group of people between the cities of Mumbai and Pune.

The cause of the crash is not yet known, but most of the passengers who died belonged to the same musical group, according to local reports.

Rescue workers rushed to the scene of the accident to help the seriously injured and they were taken to the hospital.

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed his sadness at the crash and announced financial support for the families of the victims.

Road fatalities are common in India due to reckless driving, poorly maintained roads and aging vehicles.

According to police, more than 110,000 people are killed in traffic accidents across India every year.
