In your iPhone’s NEW iMessage trick that tricks you into quitting WhatsApp

Apple confirmed the feature yesterday during its WWDC 2022 event.

The ability to cancel and edit iMessages will be added as part of iOS 16.

Competing chat app WhatsApp already has an unsend feature – but there is currently no text editing feature.

Now The Sun can reveal exactly how Apple’s new iOS feature works.

Not all iMessages can be optimized or deleted: there is a time limit.

You only have 15 minutes to make changes to a text before the option expires.

And don’t think you can do it silently either.

Just like WhatsApp, if a text has “not been sent,” a note will appear for both the sender and the recipient.

This prevents any confusion once text has disappeared.

There will also be a notification if a text has also been edited.

However, it’s not possible to see exactly what changes were made – unless you’ve seen the message before and remembered what it said.

Also important is that both the sender and recipient must be on iOS 16 for the feature to work.

So even if you have iOS 16, you can’t undo or edit a text for someone who hasn’t upgraded yet.

In this case, the option simply does not appear.

All must be running iOS 16 for the feature to work.

Apple is currently letting app makers test iOS 16 in the developer beta.

And a public beta for Apple fans is expected to go live next month.

If you want to wait for the general release, you can probably expect iOS 16 to go live in September.

This will almost certainly coincide with the launch of the long-awaited iPhone 14.
