An In-N-Out Burger employee went viral on TikTok after sharing her discovery that employees will get a $2 hourly raise – having already quit.
In the clip, user @celvil711 films herself laughing in her In-N-Out uniform over popular audio from laughing creator Brittany Broski. The text overlay reads, “I choose to quit.”
Her face then lowers, turning the camera around to reveal a poster detailing the employee. The text overlay reads, “We’re getting a $2 raise,” while the audio plays the Apple Pay thingy.
The poster explains that the new starting wage for In-N-Out workers is $19 an hour, which is $2 more than the previous starting wage of $17 an hour. The paper says the pay rise applies to employees at all pay rates, with the highest being up to $23 an hour. The new compensation will come into effect on December 12th.
The content creator expresses her disappointment with her decision in the caption. “Y’all I start making $20 and then go on to an internship that starts at $14,” she wrote. The TikToker did not say which state she was employed in.
@celvil711 yall I start making $20 then go on an internship that starts at $14 😭 #innout #wageincrease #fastfood #work #fyp ♬ Apple Pay w Brittany Lach – Requiem for a meme
The video has racked up over 244,000 views as of Tuesday, with viewers arguing that no amount of money is worth improving your mental health.
“Girl I left after working there for 3 years the money was never worth the abuse,” one viewer wrote.
“I chose peace and left no matter how good the pay started,” said a second.
“I just quit, no money is worth the stress of this job,” repeated a third.
Others expressed shock at the new wages for In-N-Out staff, claiming they were being paid less in their respective fields.
“Me, a pharmacist making 16 hours an hour in our busy pharmacy in the local ghetto without us having to ask for a break of honor,” one shared.
“Work at a homeless shelter and make $17,” commented a second.
“I’m a part-time budget assistant, make $15, and do a lot of work. I could stop and go in and out,” said a third.
