If you’ve ever had trouble reaching the top of your iPhone screen, there’s a handy hack you need to learn.
The little-known “reach wiggle” is a covert gesture that makes it much easier to use an iPhone with one hand.
It quickly pulls the top of the screen down within reach.
Finally, those with small hands may find it difficult to use the top of the screen.
That’s especially true when you’re using a whopping 6.7-inch fan like the iPhone 13 Pro Max.
Now TikTok gadget expert @MattyTheTechy1 has shared a clever hack from Apple called Reachability.
Apple says, “If you’re using the iPhone with one hand in portrait mode, Reachability lets you lower the top half of the screen.
“So it’s within reach of your thumb.”
The feature has been around for years, so your iPhone almost certainly supports it.
You’ll need an iPhone 6 or later, so any core model launched in 2014 or later will support it.
How to use Presence on iPhone
To enable it, go to Settings and then look for Accessibility.
Now tap Touch and then turn on the Presence feature.
So how do you use reachability? It depends on your iPhone model.
If you’re using an iPhone with Face ID, you should swipe down from the bottom of the screen.
And if your iPhone has a home button, double-tap it lightly.
If you want to go back to full screen mode, just tap the top half of the screen.
Just one thing…
That’s not the only trick your iPhone has for one-handed use.
There’s also a way to quickly shrink the keyboard – so the keys are easier to reach.
First you need to go to the app you want to type and make sure the keyboard is open.
Then look in the lower left corner and touch and hold the emoji face or world icon.
If you press and hold the emoji or world icon, a small “Keyboard Settings” box should appear and in the bottom row you will see three different keyboard icons.
Tap the icon on the left to get a keyboard that’s easier for you to type with your left hand.
Tap the icon on the right to get a keyboard that’s easier for you to type with your right hand.
When you’re done using your one-handed keyboard, you can bring it back to normal by pressing and holding the emoji or world icon in the bottom corner and selecting the middle keyboard option.
