A single mother has revealed that she spends half her income on her baby daughter’s designer goods.
We all want only the best for our children – but some parents, like single mum Carrisa Spark from Dorset, have taken it to the extreme and would happily starve if it meant getting the best designer bling for their daughter.
The mother-of-one, who appeared on Blinging Up Baby, is studying part-time to become a hairstylist and living on welfare to support her financially.
But while others could use the extra money to cover rent or other expenses, Carrisa decided to spend it dressing her seven-month-old Lavinia in glitter and bling.
“I like lots of bows, lots of ruffles, ribbons, anything glittery.”
While some people have said of the mother that the daughter looks “pretentious and cheesy,” that’s exactly what Carrisa likes and is looking for.
“If it’s sticky, call me sticky. If it’s chavvy, call me chavvy because that’s what I like.
“I will never stop being like this.
“Katie Price is my biggest influence,” revealed the mum, who lives in a rented flat and struggles on £100 a week.
But unlike Katie, Carrisa’s daughter’s lavish lifestyle and wardrobe needs careful management, and for now the mother buys faux fur.
“I try to get her to wear it as much as possible to get my money’s worth.”
In a speech on the show, Carrisa revealed that half of the household income goes towards Lavinia and her jewelry.

“I guess it’s maybe a bit of an obsession,” the mum said, adding that among the latest designer goodies was a baby grow by Lacoste.
“I think that’s where most of my birthday money was spent.”
And when it comes to all things bling and glitter, mom is willing to go so far as to even starve herself just to save some cash.
“I ate canned soup, maybe cup a soups, bag noodles.
“I always make sure Lavinia has the things she needs first.
“She has everything – it’s me who renounce things.
“If I had to starve myself to buy her jewelry, I probably would.”
For Lavinia’s christening, the mom went all out with a pink ruffled dress, sparkling gems and, of course, a bling-covered pacifier, all of which caused a storm.
“I hope by looking at the photos with her she can see how much effort has gone into it and she can see how loved she was.
“People may find that ridiculous – but I don’t want that.
“I want to do what I want.”
