Squeezing laundry is a popular way to get clothes extra clean, but there may be an easier way than soaking your clothes for hours.
Turns out there’s actually a wash setting you can use so you don’t have to wash, an appliance expert has shared.
Strip washing involves soaking clothes in a mixture of detergent and hot water.
But according to appliance expert Colin Jones, you can achieve this effect simply by using your machine.
Jones offered the advice in an interview with Australian TV, in which he debunked a number of new viral TikTok hacks, including this deep cleaning advice.
Appliance Online’s expert said the key to a thorough clean without the time-consuming stripping process is to use the prewash setting on your machine instead.
“Many washing machines have a pre-wash option, which is a 15-minute cycle that aims to loosen any deep dirt on your clothes,” he told outlet 9Now.
“After this pre-wash, you continue with the normal program at the desired temperature,” he explains.”
This helps fix many issues that are keeping you from thoroughly sanitized threads.
“Throughout the wash cycle, your machine will maintain the temperature that gives you the most effective result,” explained Jones.
“If you were doing a strip wash, the temperature wouldn’t stay constant because heat would escape from the bathtub or sink.”
The expert says it’s also important to make sure you pick the right cycle, temperature, and speed settings.
If you get these settings right, you won’t need to wash the strips.
