YOU might think that working on a superyacht must be quite a glamorous job – but this stewardess shows just how unglam it really is.
Superyacht stewardess Caitlin shares the realities of living and working on one of these massive yachts – including how much laundry goes on each day and how unusual her work is.
Caitlin shares her average daily routine at sea in two videos she posted to her TikTok account @superyachtgirl.
The videos, titled Day in the Life of a Superyacht Stewardess, Parts One and Two, have since been viewed over a million times.
Quite a late start, Caitlins says she wakes up at 11am, although that seems pretty fair as she usually finishes around 3am.
She adds that she is currently on an ocean crossing, meaning the days are a little different than when the yacht was docked in a port or on land.
To entertain themselves on board the ship, Caitlin and her crewmates face daily challenges. The challenge of the day on Cailtin’s TikTok is Guess the Baby Photo.
She then begins her working day with the laundry, later adding that with 10 guests and 14 crew members, the laundry is rarely empty and the crew divides the task among themselves.
After starting the washing machine, she tidies up the laundry room before taking a quick lunch break before getting back to her chores.
According to Caitlin’s video, there’s a ton of checklists when it comes to keeping the ship clean and tidy – which might come as a surprise to those who thought this was a totally glamorous job.
One of her tasks today is to wipe down some walls with water and disinfectant, she adds: “It takes a lot of cleaning to keep the yacht looking good.”
After she finishes cleaning, she goes to the bridge for her watch duties from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. In the comments, she clarifies that watchkeeping means keeping an eye out for “floating debris or other vessels that may cause a collision.”
She adds that when on duty she works alongside a qualified security guard and most of the time assists. Today she helps clean the deck to keep the sentry area nice.
Caitlin then has a break where she can relax and meet up with the other crew members and have dinner.
Then she returns to the bridge for night watch from 1-3am and has to use a flashlight as it is so dark out on the open ocean.
