Sometimes it’s hard to resist the feeling of wanting something completely new, especially when you’re looking to change up your style.

YouTube stylist Christina says it’s better to save money because what you want might be somewhere in what you have.

She posted a video explaining how she took the clothes in her closet and created an elegant outfit.

“I feel kind of expensive and bored with my closet, so instead of shopping online, I need to dress up in my closet,” says Christina.

According to Christina, in order to decide on a direction in which to go, it is always good to have an inspiring picture of what you want.

So if you’re looking at a photo of a pair of pants or a top you’re about to buy, look for something that looks similar.

“My old self would actually look for that brand instead of going to my closet and just breaking it down piece by piece,” she explains.

Instead of buying brand new designer pants, a black collared top or Hermès sandals, Christina designs her version of this outfit.

She dresses in black wide-leg pants, a black t-shirt, and black sandals that she found in her closet.

Although the items are not identical, the look and construction of the outfit are the same.

They are both minimalist and chic, which is what Christina wanted in the first place.

Think about why you want to buy an item and what style you are going for because chances are you can achieve it with what you have.

“I just saved $800 by not buying the sandals,” Christina admits.

One viewer commented on her experience of giving up what she had for new things.

“I once cleaned out my closet and had great regrets when I bought similar items,” she wrote.

Another person agreed that this advice is necessary: ”That’s actually a really good idea. I’ll try next time I’m feeling ‘spent’.”
