I’m a student midwife and I can’t stand dads in the delivery room, they keep asking stupid questions

IT can be one of the most stressful situations in a person’s life.

But a student midwife has little patience for dads in the delivery room — especially when they keep saying stupid things.

Gemma Brusnahan took to TikTok to share a video explaining the “things dads do in the delivery room that annoy me”.

First of all, Gemma can’t take it when dads-to-be ask, “How long is this going to last?”

She also hates when they sit on the phone while their partner pushes or when they have the gall to fall asleep in the delivery room.

And don’t even get them started on the men leaving the room.

In the video’s comments section, people were quick to reveal their own stories of the dad’s disrespect in the delivery room.

“While my daughter was literally crowning her father asked if it was right to smoke a cigarette,” one wrote.

“I told him not to bother coming back in once he left.”

“My partner fell asleep and I threw a shoe at him,” added another.

“My nurse laughed.”

While a third wrote: “How about if you’re late – then in the second phase ask the midwife if they’re a ‘real’ nurse and if so could they have a look at his shoulder which he hurt.”

But others insisted that one of Gemma’s points – about putting dads to sleep – isn’t all that bad in certain situations.

“If you’re not rushing – let her take a nap,” one wrote.

“You’d better be rested so you can take care of baby and mom?”

“I was mature enough to let my partner sleep,” added another.

“Just because I had to sit and wait for labor didn’t mean I kept him awake too.”

“If I’m in labor and my partner needs to sleep that’s fine, but once I start pushing he better get up!” a third commented.
