It’s important to clean your linens to remove germs, dead skin cells, body oils, and bacteria that can build up.

On average, an adult loses 1.5 grams of dry skin every day, and a large amount of that is found in bed sheets.

Unfortunately, these dander attract dust mites, which can lead to allergy or asthma symptoms like coughing, sneezing, and itchy eyes.

But laundering your linens can not only tidy up your appearance for your forty wink, it can also improve your overall well-being and mood.

That’s why eachnight Mattresses bedding expert Malik Karman went on a mission to explain why it’s so important to keep up with your linen changes.

As a rule of thumb, sheets and pillowcases should be washed once a week.

Malik explained that a spin in the washing machine removes nasty oils and allergens that build up in the fabric and ensures the surface “remains clean and comfortable”.

He recommends washing your actual pillow every four to six months to keep it comfortable and supportive.

You don’t have to wash it too often as long as it is kept in a clean pillowcase.

But Malik reminded Brits to check the care label to make sure their pillows are washable.

He told NottinghamshireLive: “A rule of thumb is that a pillow that can be fluffed up is machine washable, such as a pillow. B. Feather pillows and shredded foam pillows.

“However, it is important to double-check it.”

But since pillows soak up our sweat and skin oils like a sponge, sleeping on a dirty blanket can affect our health.

The sleep fanatic explained: “The effects of an unwashed pillow can be minor, e.g. B. when a sleeper notices they have more facial acne or their pillow has a strange smell.

“However, allergy sufferers may notice an increase in symptoms that significantly affect their quality of life.”

A bedroom survey report by the National Sleep Foundation (NSF) found that 71 percent of people reported they slept better on sheets with a clean scent.

Your mattress protectors can be washed every few months, while day throws can be thrown in once a season.
