Joshua Becker’s tidying-up video has already garnered over a million views.

People seek advice when it comes to making household improvements that are more reflective of a minimalist lifestyle.

10 items to throw away as soon as possible

The first item Joshua asks his viewers to throw out is any expired food they may have in their fridge or cupboards.

He says, “Expired tin cans, expired condiments, expired condiments… Find them and get rid of them.”

The second thing to throw away is any clothing you no longer wear.

“Most people have items in their closets, drawers, [and] on shelves… things they just don’t wear anymore. Go ahead, make room.”

Next, according to Joshua, unused puzzles and games should hit your dumpster.

He says: “[If they’re] missing pieces, or you stopped playing them decades ago… you can get rid of them.

Another group of items that should be discarded are old electronics, cables and wires.

“Technology changes quickly. Electronics that you used six, seven, eight years ago are now obsolete,” explains Joshua.

In Joshua’s opinion, even duplicate cookware can be immediately thrown in the trash.

He asks, “How many bowls of Tupperware and mismatched lids do you need?”

“Get rid of the duplicates. Make space in your kitchen. Cooking will be a lot more fun.”

Joshua advises that there should be no place for old and worn linens in your home either.

“There are quite a few animal shelters in your area that could use these bedding,” he suggests.

The next items to dispose of from your home are old trunks and trunks.

Joshua says, “Get rid of the luggage you don’t need. Maybe your family resized, maybe you replaced the old ones, [or] maybe you just don’t travel as much as you used to.”

Unused crates are another group of items that Joshua says you should throw away immediately.

“Boxes tend not to shut down as easily. They usually take up a lot of space,” he explains.

It turns out that personal care items that you no longer use belong in the trash can too.

The last thing on Joshua’s list are books you won’t want to pick up and read in the future.

He acknowledges that it might be difficult for people to part with their book collection for emotional reasons, but it can be very beneficial in terms of decluttering.

He says, “Bring the books to Good Will or a local library.”

Many people in Joshua’s comments section are extremely appreciative of his decluttering suggestions.
