Knowing how to style your eyebrows properly can help you avoid looking older than you are.

You may think that keeping your brows as neat and tidy as possible is the best beauty move, but you may be wrong.
Makeup artist Celine Russell shared some essential brow secrets with Southern Living.
She explains: “The greatest giveaway of aging [with] Eyebrows are thin.
“We lose eyebrows over time as we age, and thinning eyebrows can also be an indicator of underlying health issues.”

Plucking the brows
The first eyebrow mistake Celine should avoid is plucking them way too thin.
Unless you’re going for a full-on ’90s look, super-thin brows are to be avoided at all costs.
“As we get older, our eyebrows don’t grow with us. So if we pluck too much, it can become a problem,” explains Celine.
Rather, she encourages people to fill in their eyebrows with pencils and brow gels.
“Anything that feels like regrowing the eyebrows naturally is good technique.”
Hold the silver strands
The second eyebrow mistake to avoid is growing gray hairs where they shouldn’t.
When the hair on the top of your head starts to turn silver, this is not always seen as a problem.
It becomes a problem when the hairs in your eyebrows are visibly grey, as they can make you look totally washed out.

Celine’s advice is to be careful not to fill in your eyebrows or dye your eyebrows with a color that’s way too dark.
Too much sculpting
Finally, Celine says you should avoid being too heavy-handed when shaping your eyebrows.
She says, “Over-sculpted brows can be trendy, but they’re unflattering and can look harsh on the face.”

It’s difficult to look super youthful when your eyebrows look completely fake.
Celine’s advice is to apply color to the brows in short strokes with a pencil for a more realistic look.
