A HOME expert revealed how they’ll use three of their household items in new ways once they’re done with them.
TikTok user Kate, who can be found at @my_plastic_free_home, dedicates her social media account to sharing eco tips and DIY hacks for the home.
In one of her recent posts, Kate shared how she reuses and recycles tights, socks and toilet roll holders.
In the caption, she explained: “[Here’s] 3 things to reuse in your home that you might not have thought of before.”
Kate went on to show how she upcycles each of the items, giving them a new purpose in her home.
First she grabbed some old tights and a pair of scissors before saying: “Tights you don’t wear anymore?
“Take a pair of scissors and cut your toned legs into two inch wide strips. Now you have snag free hair ties.”
Kate then said that not only does it reduce your plastic use, but it also saves you money in the long run.
She continued, “This is great because you don’t have to buy pom poms anymore, which are also plastic.”
Similarly, Kate also showed how you can breathe new life into your “old, holey socks” or odd socks.
The social media star told her 14,5000 followers: “You can repurpose your old socks by turning them into perfect feather dusters.
“Honestly, I don’t know why dusters aren’t made that way. It’s so easy to remove dust with them and it’s great for keeping dust off your plants too.”
Most recently, Kate demonstrated how old toilet paper rolls make the perfect seedling pots for you to grow your chosen plant at home.
“Just cut slits in the end, fold them over, stick your soil in, add your seed and you’re good to go!”
