I’m a home furnishing expert and I’ve reviewed everything that’s new at IKEA this season, what to get and what to skip

INTERIOR expert and IKEA hater Arvin Olano took a look at this season’s novelties and was pleasantly surprised.

Posting to YouTube, Arvin shared his thoughts on a range of new IKEA items, including what’s a good deal and what to skip.

Arvin says he's usually an IKEA hater but was actually surprised by some of the great finds he made on this trip

Upon entering the store, he says “Wish me luck,” but Arvin is quickly shocked to find a number of items that he really likes.

The first of these is the BESTÅ storage combination, says Arvin: “I really like that. I like that detail. I’m a little shocked, it’s very chic.”

He also loves the ULRIKSBERG rattan armchair, adding that this is a really good deal as similar chairs can cost a lot of money elsewhere.

“Maybe I hated IKEA for no reason,” says Arvin, before continuing with his shopping and making his way to the coffee table department.

The first table he recommends is the LISTERBY coffee table, which he says is “Scandinavian,” adding that it’s a great deal.

Arvin also likes the LISTERBY console table and the LISTERBY side table.

While the journey so far has been full of items Arvin has liked, he is quite disappointed with the KVISTBRO storage table, adding that it looks pretty messy when in use.

Going back to the tables he likes, he says he really liked the STOCKHOLM coffee table the last time he was at IKEA and still loves it a lot on this trip, adding that “he’s had a min- Century gives, he gives vintage vibes.”

Arvin continues through the store, making his way to the sofa and armchair department, where he spots the BACKSÄLEN range, which he jokes “must go back to stock”.

Looking at the sofa, he says, “I feel like I’m falling through the cracks.”

“The sofa area is kind of creepy,” Arvin adds, “some of them just look a little bit [shakes head].”

However, he likes the PÄRUP chaise longue very much, which he describes as “delicious”.

Still, Arvin adds that he probably wouldn’t buy a sofa from IKEA and would instead look elsewhere for seating for his home.

Stepping into a showroom that has a rather dark aesthetic, Arvin says he hates it, adding that the design feels “so dated.”

The next showroom has a coastal design, which he usually likes, but says this one went a bit over the top with the blue and white art.

Continuing to tour the store, Arvin adds that the last time he was at IKEA he hated the STRANDMON wing chairs, but now he really likes them.

No trip to IKEA would be complete without a quick peek at the BILLY bookshelf, and a trip from Arvin is no exception.

Looking at the BILLYs, he says his favorite is the BILLY/OXBERG in black with the glass doors.

The BJÖRKSNÄS bed, he says, looks “a little flimsy”, but he likes the BJÖRKSNÄS dresser.

At the end of the video, Arvin says he’s shocked that he likes so many things at IKEA.

We’ll just have to wait for his next IKEA video to see if this love lasts or not.

The BACKSÄLEN chair, he said, should "go back to camp."
