I’m a hair expert, two reasons why you should NEVER wear your hair down to sleep and how to prevent hair breakage

IF you’re the kind of person who always pulls your hair down just before putting your head down on the pillow every night to avoid frizzing, it might be time for a big change.
That’s because a hair expert found that you should never wear your hair down to bed as it can severely damage your locks.

The TikTok advisor account Your Best Hair, aka @yourbesthair, was recently asked, “Why put your hair up to sleep?”
She quickly replied, “If you sleep with your hair down while tossing and turning, the friction of your pillow will cause frizz and breakage.”
Instead, she encouraged her 123,800 social media followers to try the complete opposite — and reap the rewards.
She went on to explain, “If you wear your hair down, it will protect your hair from frizz and damage.”

When her followers asked for other reasons why it’s important to wear your hair up, Your Best Hair reiterated that it’s important to keep your ponytail very loose.
She continued, “It’s only going to cause breakage if you wear your hair very tight for a long period of time.
“Short hair around a hairline is normal and not a breakage.”
She added that her preference would be an extremely loose bun on top of her head, aka “pineapple.”
When some asked if that was the best advice, she replied, “In my defence, I have over 30 years of experience and I conduct a study on every subject.”
The hair expert also said she’s a fan of sleeping with silk pillows to ensure you don’t wake up with frizzy locks.
When one of her followers suggested others invest in one, Your Best Hair replied, “Yeah, definitely helps.”
However, she was quick to add, “But it would be better if you tied it loosely.”
