I’m a gardening pro – my favorite products will rid your lawn of crabgrass forever

BECAUSE crabgrass tends to regenerate when the roots remain in the ground, it can be a difficult plant to eliminate completely.
Luckily, there are some solutions to keep those pesky weeds at bay.

The experts at Epic Gardening have unveiled some outstanding products that will help you destroy the crabgrass that is taking over your lawn.
WITHOUT CHEMICALS
The best way to remove fingergrass without chemicals is to remove it at the roots.
The more of it you can remove before it produces seed, the less likely it is that crabgrass will reappear.
Since crabgrass seeds can stay in the ground for up to three years, this takes some time and dedication.

WITH CHEMISTRY
A pendimethalin weed killer is a good chemical solution for crabgrass.
A widely used one like Scott’s Halts Crabgrass & Grassy Weed Preventer can get the job done.
This crabgrass treatment should be applied early in spring, before soil temperatures rise above 55 degrees.
To ensure the weed killer does its job, do not sow, rake or aerate your lawn for four months after application.
In warmer climates, you need to do a pre-emergence treatment twice a year.
As soon as the soil temperature reaches 55 degrees in early spring, consider whipping them out.
Use a pre-emergence treatment again in the fall to stop winter weed growth.
If the soil temperature drops permanently below 50 degrees, pendimethalin treatments become less effective.
If you have a stubborn area of crabgrass that won’t die off, try a crabgrass stain treatment like Bonide Weed Beater Plus. Spot treatments can easily prevent the pesky weed from reappearing.
ORGANIC
Corn gluten meal is a pre-emergence weed inhibitor and a good organic option for getting rid of crabgrass. Espoma Organic Weed Preventer is a highly rated choice.
Cornstarch’s by-product has the ability to slow or completely eliminate the growth of most weeds – crabgrass and dandelion to name a few.
Be sure to use the corn gluten meal in both spring and fall to prevent weed growth.

And to get rid of crabgrass in the summer, you need to use a crabgrass stain treatment.
A great option is the Agralawn Crabgrass Killer.
