White vinegar – which costs just £2 – is the key to removing moss from your garden, according to a green-fingered expert speaking to Express.co.uk.

What’s more, the process only takes “about an hour” and promises to get rid of stubborn moss and weeds.

According to Harwood’s Garden Supplies expert, “Vinegar is a relatively cheap and easy way to remove moss from pavers.”

Explaining why it’s so effective, they continued, “The acetic acid in vinegar can kill the moss on your pavers.”

They continue, for the best and fastest results you should opt for a white vinegar with a solution of about five percent, while a six percent solution is much more “potent”.

The method is then extremely simple, as you can either dilute the solution with a little water or apply it directly to the moss.

To find out which is best, you can spot test a small part of your patio and see which one gives the better results.

Once that’s established, the experts say, “Let sit for about an hour after pouring the vinegar.”

Then use a brush to scrub the moss off the pavers, or for larger patches, try digging it up with a shovel.

After the moss has been removed, use a bucket or bowl of water to rinse away any excess moss that has crept through.

A garden hose or pressure washer also works well and will help wash away the moss faster.

Once the last step is complete you will see that the patio is moss free and you can repeat this if needed.
